Almond Oil
For soapmaking, we recommend sweet almond oil. Sweet Almond oil is a wonderful conditioning oil in moderate proportions. Sweet almond oil is a great emollient for softening and conditioning the skin.
It is well suited for eczema, psoriasis and itchy, dry and inflamed skin.
Almond Oil is used in making lip balms, solid lotion bars, bath oils and massage oils. It is also a wonderful emollient oil for soap making.
Almond Oil
A type of nut oil extracted from the almond. The almond tree has beautiful flowers which ripen into the almond nut. The oil typically used as an ingredient in salad dressings, sauces and mayonnaise, and it is often used in desserts. Almond oil has a distinctively nutty flavor. However, unlike almond extract, almond oil is not concentrated enough to provide a strong almond taste to sweets. It has a high smoke point so it may be used for high heat cooking.
Oil extracted from almond kernels is non-drying, and is obtained from both the bitter almond, not edible as a nut, and from sweet almond kernels. The oil from the two kinds appears identical. The oil is edible, but is used largely in the manufacture of certain pharmaceuticals.
Sweet almond oil is obtained by pressing sweet almonds.
Sweet Almond oil makes an excellent eye make-up remover. Place a few drops of a cotton ball, and rub lightly over make-up to remove.
Use it in creams, lotions, lotion bars, balms, scrubs, massage oils and soap. It saponifies easily and yields a mild soap with good lather. It can be used as a large percentage of the fats or as an oil added at trace.
